Cross country is one of Alex’s flagship sports. Our success on a local and provincial level has given us a formidable reputation in the cross country world.
League runs take place in the 2nd term every Wednesday at various school’s throughout the city and the total number of runs per season range from 5 to 6. Students from many different schools participate as the league is open to all high schools in the city. We have both male and female squads.
Cross country is split into two age groups of competition for each gender:
· Juniors: Boys/Girls under16
· Seniors: Boys/Girls over 16
Alex has achieved high levels of success at both levels. We have produced KZN grade runners and regularly participate in the provincial trials.
Recognition is given to students who to exceptionally well. The top 10 runners of each age grouping are awarded with medals at the school’s prize-giving and internal awards like Half-Colours, Colours or even Honours can be awarded to students if they fulfil our awards criteria.
Our runners also run at school’s zonal and district meetings. From there they can progress to running at the S.A School Championships.
